Publication Ethics

The Journal of Economics, Management, Development, and Education (JEMDE) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement explains the ethical behavior expected from all parties involved in the act of publishing in JEMDE, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.
JEMDE follows recognized international standards of ethical publishing to ensure that all published research is conducted and reported responsibly, transparently, and fairly.

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors who submit manuscripts to JEMDE are required to comply with the following ethical principles:

a. Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript is original. Any work or words of other authors must be appropriately cited. Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited.

b. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Submission
Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Submitting a manuscript that has already been published elsewhere is not allowed.

c. Authorship of the Manuscript
Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the research and writing of the manuscript. All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission.

d. Data Accuracy and Reporting Standards
Authors must present accurate data and results. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements are unethical and unacceptable.

e. Acknowledgment of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be provided. Authors must cite publications that have influenced their research.

f. Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest that could influence the interpretation of the manuscript.

g. Ethical Research Practice
If the research involves human participants, surveys, interviews, or sensitive data, authors must ensure that the research is conducted ethically, including informed consent when required.

2. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Editors of JEMDE are responsible for:

a. Publication Decisions
Editors have full responsibility and authority to accept or reject a manuscript based on its academic merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

b. Fair Play and Impartiality
Manuscripts are evaluated without discrimination based on the author’s race, gender, religion, citizenship, institutional affiliation, or political philosophy.

c. Confidentiality
Editors must not disclose information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial board members, and the publisher, as appropriate.

d. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Editors must not use unpublished information for personal research purposes. Any conflicts of interest must be declared and managed appropriately.

e. Handling Misconduct
Editors will take appropriate action if ethical complaints arise concerning a submitted or published manuscript, including investigation and publication of corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern if necessary.

3. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers play a vital role in the peer review process and are expected to:

a. Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review helps editors make publication decisions and helps authors improve their manuscripts.

b. Promptness
Reviewers who feel unqualified to review the manuscript or cannot complete the review promptly should notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.

c. Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared with others.

d. Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively, with clear supporting arguments. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.

e. Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited and should report any suspected plagiarism or ethical concerns to the editor.

f. Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers must declare any conflicts of interest and decline the review if the conflict could affect their objectivity.

The publisher of JEMDE is committed to ensuring that:

a. The editorial process is independent and free from commercial influence.

b. Ethical issues are handled professionally and transparently.

c. All published content is preserved and remains accessible through archiving and preservation policies.

5. Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts submitted to JEMDE may be checked for plagiarism using appropriate plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with unacceptable similarity levels will be rejected or returned to the authors for revision.

6. Corrections, Retractions, and Complaints

JEMDE will publish corrections, clarifications, retractions, or apologies when needed. Complaints and appeals related to editorial decisions, peer review, or publication ethics will be handled fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with journal procedures.
